The federal government has announced the latest revision in petroleum prices for the next 15 days, effective from October 16, 2024. Updated Petrol and Diesel Rates in Pakistan (Effective from October 16)
Product | Old Price (Rs) | New Price (Rs) | Increase/Decrease (Rs) |
---|---|---|---|
Petrol (MS) | 249.03 | 249.03 | 0.00 |
High-Speed Diesel | 246.29 | 251.29 | +5.00 |
The adjustment in fuel prices recommended by the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and will be applicable for the next two weeks. The price of high-speed diesel, which widely used in heavy transport vehicles, agricultural machinery, and trains, viewed as a key inflationary factor. The increased cost of diesel impacts transportation costs, contributing to higher prices for essential commodities like vegetables and other food items.
Petrol, commonly used in private vehicles, motorcycles, and rickshaws, remains unchanged at Rs 249.03 per litre. While this offers some relief to the middle and lower-middle-class segments, the hike in diesel prices expected to affect the overall cost of living, especially in rural and transport-heavy sectors.
The new rates will remain in effect until the next revision, expected at the end of the month.
