No Evidence of Rape Found at Lahore College: Investigation Report

A special investigative committee, formed to probe the alleged assault of a student at a private college in Lahore, has submitted its findings to Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz. According to sources, the report concluded that there is no evidence of any assault taking place on the college premises.

No Eyewitnesses or Evidence

The investigation team conducted interviews with approximately 28 students, all of whom stated that they had no firsthand knowledge of the incident and had only heard about it through rumors circulating within the college. The committee’s report further noted the absence of any direct eyewitnesses or solid evidence to corroborate the claims of the alleged assault.

Injuries From a Fall

Additionally, the girl who hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) also interviewed as part of the investigation. It revealed that her injuries were the result of a fall at her home on October 2, and not connected to any incident at the college, as previously speculated.

College Administration’s Role

The report highlighted the college administration’s failure to manage the situation effectively. It criticized the principal for lacking control over the student body during the aftermath of the alleged incident, which contributed to the spread of rumors and misinformation.

Government Action and Precautionary Measures

In response to the unrest caused by the reports of the alleged assault, the Punjab government imposed Section 144 in several cities across the province. As a precautionary measure, educational institutions temporarily closed, and exams postponed to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The committee tasked with completing the investigation within 48 hours, and its findings now expected to bring clarity to the situation and put an end to the circulating rumors.

With no evidence supporting the claims of assault, the focus now shifts to restoring order within the college and addressing any administrative shortcomings highlighted by the committee’s report.
