Sindh’s MDCAT 2024 is seeing a shift as Sukkur IBA University laid out seven new conditions to hold the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for the province. The Sindh High Court (SHC) on October 26 ordered a re-conduct of MDCAT within four weeks, under the responsibility of IBA Karachi and Sukkur IBA. However, IBA Karachi backed out, leaving Sukkur IBA Testing Service (STS) in charge of all regions, including Karachi.
Following SHC’s directive, the STS Secretary reached out to the Sindh health secretary, calling for immediate coordination. They’ve requested two focal persons from the PMDC and Sindh’s health department and an urgent online meeting to finalize logistics with representatives from PMDC, IBA Sukkur, and other involved departments.
Key requirements set by Sukkur IBA include a fee of Rs 6,000 per candidate, to be deposited at least 15 days before the test date. Another condition is SHC’s formal approval for STS to conduct the test province-wide since SHC’s previous order had only authorized Sukkur IBA to conduct the test outside of Karachi.
The secretary has stressed that PMDC needs to share candidate data with STS within two days, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) must be signed between STS and the health department to clarify test protocols. Furthermore, STS will not begin any test-related activities until they receive formal written approval from the health department, warning of potential delays without timely confirmation.
