Karachi Airport Declared Red Zone: Security Tightened

Karachi Airport and its surrounding areas have been designated as a Red Zone due to heightened security concerns. Strict measures are in place, with access restricted to passengers, airport staff, and authorized individuals only.

This decision follows recent incidents, including a suicide attack targeting a convoy of Chinese engineers near Karachi Airport and a shooting on Sharea Faisal involving luxury vehicles. These events have led to increased security in the city to ensure public safety.

Security Measures Around Karachi Airport

SSP Malir, Kashif Aftab Abbasi, confirmed that the following locations near the airport have designated as police checkpoints with round-the-clock deployment of personnel:

  • Star Gate
  • CAA Club
  • Madam Bridge
  • Model Colony Mor
  • Rangers checkpoint near the funeral area

At these checkpoints, security officials are conducting thorough inspections of suspicious individuals and vehicles to prevent any unusual activity.

Guidelines for Passengers and Residents

Passengers traveling to Karachi Airport advised to arrive well in advance to avoid delays due to security checks. SSP Malir also urged individuals to carry their flight tickets and National Identity Cards (NIC) for smooth entry into the Red Zone.

Residents of nearby areas, including Malir Cantt, Model Colony, and Memon Goth, have requested to avoid traveling through the restricted zone. Instead, they encouraged to use alternative routes such as Shahra e Faisal and Malir Halt Road.

For those arriving from Drigh Road, Malir Halt Road recommended for travel toward Malir Cantt or Model Colony, avoiding Star Gate or CAA Club Road.

Police Assurances for Public Safety

SSP Malir emphasized that the safety of passengers and residents remains the top priority. He assured the public that District Malir Police are fully prepared to maintain peace and address any challenges faced by travelers.

These proactive measures aim to secure the area around Karachi Airport and prevent any further incidents. Passengers are encouraged to cooperate with security personnel to ensure smooth travel and public safety.
