IDEAS Expo 2024: Which Schools Are Closed in Karachi from 19th to 22nd November?

Educational institutions near Karachi’s Karsaz and Sharea Faisal will stay closed for four days, from November 19 to 22, due to the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024. This step, announced by the Sindh Education Department, aims to manage traffic during the major event at Karachi Expo Centre.

According to the notification, schools and colleges located along Shahrah-e-Faisal and Habib Ibrahim Road won’t hold academic activities during this period. The decision comes as thousands of local and international participants are expected to attend the event, impacting traffic flow across the city.

To ensure smooth transportation, Karachi Traffic Police has already shared a traffic diversion plan. Sir Shah Muhammad Suleman Road, connecting Hassan Square to the National Stadium, will be off-limits from 7 am to 7 pm during the exhibition. Roads linking University Road and Stadium Road to the Expo Centre will also be inaccessible, with only small vehicles allowed around the area. Heavy traffic will not be permitted.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Police Karachi Ahmed Nawaz further clarified that key routes near the Expo Centre, including the Hassan Square Flyover and Dalmia Road leading to the Stadium, will be closed for public use. Other access points, such as the road from Nipa and University Road passing by the Expo’s left side, will also be blocked.

IDEAS 2024 is set to draw significant attention, showcasing the latest in defense technology. While it’s an exciting event for many, authorities are urging citizens to plan their routes in advance and stay informed about traffic updates.
