The federal government has intensified its security measures for the upcoming Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest on November 24 in Islamabad by deploying additional police officers from Karachi. To ensure order during the protest, over 1,350 trainee officers from Sindh’s training centers have been dispatched to the federal capital.
These officers began their journey from Karachi Cantt Railway Station, traveling on a special train equipped with essential anti-riot gear, including 1,000 long-range and 1,000 short-range shells. This deployment follows a request from the federal government to the Sindh government for reinforcements.
Personnel have been drawn from various training centers, including 263 from Shahid Hayat Training Center, 228 from Razzaqabad, 315 from Hyderabad, and 544 from Khairpur. Their presence underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the demonstration, which is expected to attract significant crowds and potential disruptions.
In addition, the government has implemented measures to prevent the misuse of resources, particularly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a frequent concern during political demonstrations. Rangers will also be stationed in sensitive areas such as Jhelum, Rawalpindi, and Attock to provide extra security.
This large-scale preparation highlights the government’s dedication to ensuring the protest remains peaceful and orderly. The inter-provincial coordination, highlighted by the deployment of police from Sindh, aims to prevent any untoward incidents during the PTI-led demonstration. With tensions high, all eyes are on November 24 as Islamabad braces for a potentially volatile day.
