The Metro Bus service, a crucial daily transport option for thousands in Islamabad, will remain closed for two days starting from November 23. This suspension, covering the route from IJP Station to Pak Secretariat, is in response to the PTI’s planned protest on November 24. Authorities have stated that the service will resume once the situation in the city is assessed.
PTI, led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has announced a major protest in Islamabad against the detention of party leaders and recent constitutional amendments. The protest, set for November 24, has led to the temporary suspension of the Metro Bus service to ensure safety and security in the city.
Rawalpindi Metro Bus Service Disruption
In addition, the Metro Bus service in Rawalpindi will also face disruptions due to track maintenance. From November 28 to December 1, the route between Saddar Station and Faizabad Station will be closed. However, the service between Faizabad and Pak Secretariat will continue as usual. The full service will be restored by December 2.
The Metrobus System, operating between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, has been a key part of urban transport since its inauguration in June 2015. With a daily ridership of over 150,000, it offers a smooth, air-conditioned ride along a 24.8 km route that connects major areas like Saddar, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad’s key sectors, including the Pak Secretariat.
This rapid transit system has helped reduce traffic congestion and provided a more efficient commuting option for residents of both cities, making travel quicker and more reliable for daily commuters.
