The University of Karachi has announced its decision to introduce a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Academic Council Meeting Scheduled for Approval
The Academic Council, chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, will meet on December 3, 2024, to discuss the program’s approval. The proposed BS AI program has already received clearance from the Board of Faculty (Faculty of Science) and the Board of Studies within the Department of Computer Science. If approved by the Academic Council, admissions for the program will commence in the academic session of 2025. Details about admission requirements and the number of seats will be finalized following the council’s approval.

In a report by Daily Express, Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Iraqi emphasized the university’s commitment to providing students with high-quality education in advanced fields. “The program has undergone detailed review by the Board of Faculty before being submitted for final approval. The curriculum for the BS AI program has been developed according to the guidelines of the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), ensuring adherence to national standards.
