Murree snow season 2024 is all set to begin from December 15, 2024, lasting until March 15, 2025. This winter wonderland draws thousands of tourists eager to experience snowfall in one of Pakistan’s most scenic spots. To ensure smooth operations and safety, a “rain and snow emergency” will remain in place throughout the season.
The tourist rush is expected to peak from December 24, coinciding with winter vacations. Authorities are leaving no stone unturned, with Rawalpindi Commissioner Aamir Khattak instructing teams to finalize all safety measures by December 10. Murree’s Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Shirazi has requested 100 extra volunteers and Rs17 million for operations.
To manage the influx, nineteen facility centers will be set up at key points like the Motorway Toll Plaza and GT Road Toll Plaza. These centers will assist tourists, manage vehicle entry, and operate 24/7, equipped with heaters, raincoats, and other essentials. When Murree hits its vehicle capacity, additional cars will be redirected.
Traffic management is also a priority. Fifty more officers will join the efforts, while coordination with the National Highway Authority and Punjab Disaster Management Authority will ensure road safety. Once the snow starts, hourly weather updates will keep tourists informed.
Visitors are advised to carry tire chains, blankets, and food supplies to avoid trouble during their trip. To control overcharging, prices for hotels, transport, and food have been regulated under Section 144, with ten magistrates monitoring compliance.
