The much-awaited Honhaar Scholarship Program was officially launched at Punjab University on Wednesday, aiming to help deserving students achieve their academic dreams. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz introduced the initiative, which promises to remove financial hurdles and empower the youth to pursue higher education.
The program focuses on providing scholarships to exceptional students across Punjab, creating opportunities for brighter futures. With a budget of Rs. 130 billion, this initiative is set to benefit thousands annually. During the launch ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz distributed scholarship cheques to students, showcasing the government’s commitment to educational growth. She also introduced an online e-portal, simplifying the application process.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat highlighted the program’s impact, emphasizing its role in nurturing talent and promoting academic excellence. He shared that over 68,000 students from 359 colleges, five dozen universities, and 12 medical colleges have already applied for this opportunity.

Honhaar Scholarship Program Eligibility Requirements
- Punjab domicile.
- Age limit: 22 years (as of the closing date).
- Family income below Rs. 300,000 per month (affidavit required).
- Enrolled in eligible disciplines at approved universities/colleges for Fall 2024.
Academic Criteria:
- MBBS/BDS: ≥ 80% in FSc/Intermediate.
- Sciences in public/private universities: ≥ 70%.
- Arts and Social Sciences: ≥ 65%.
