The Sindh government has announced the toll rates for the highly anticipated Malir Expressway, set to partially open in mid-January 2025. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah shared the updates during a recent progress review meeting, signaling significant progress on this crucial infrastructure project.
Toll Rates for Malir Expressway
The toll charges for the Malir Expressway have been finalized:
- Cars: Rs. 100
- Buses: Rs. 200
These rates aim to provide affordable access while maintaining the expressway’s operational efficiency.
Inauguration of the First Section
The first 9-kilometer section of the Malir Expressway is expected to be open to the public on January 11 or 12, 2025. The expressway, once fully operational, will serve as a key route, reducing traffic congestion and travel time for commuters in Karachi.
Advanced Toll Collection System
An automatic toll collection system with 18 booths will ensure a seamless and efficient experience for commuters. The state-of-the-art system is designed to minimize delays, enhancing the overall convenience for travelers.
Enhanced Security Measures
To ensure safety along the expressway, 7 to 8 police vehicles will patrol the route. These measures are part of the government’s commitment to providing a secure environment for all users.

The progress review meeting, chaired by CM Murad Ali Shah, included several high-ranking officials such as Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah.
