The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has confirmed that the country’s payment infrastructure well-prepared to support Google Pay. With 133,000 POS terminals nationwide, 99% already equipped for mobile contactless payments, ensuring a smooth user experience.
Ongoing Collaborations
Sources have revealed that 4 to 6 major Pakistani banks are working to meet the technical requirements for Visa and Mastercard compatibility ahead of the platform’s launch. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to delivering a secure and efficient payment system to users.
