The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced that all 13 routes of the Islamabad Electric Bus Service will soon be fully operational. With the addition of 160 electric buses, the initiative aims to enhance public transport in the federal capital.
Islamabad Electric Bus Service: Routes & Updates
In the initial phase, 30 electric buses were introduced on two key routes: NUST to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and PIMS to Bari Imam. To support operations, charging stations have been installed at the Convention Centre and H-9, ensuring efficient service for commuters.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa highlighted the importance of maintaining service quality while reducing reliance on subsidies. He also announced the upcoming ground-breaking ceremony for the Zero Point charging station and the complete rollout of 160 buses across all 13 designated routes.
Flat Fare & Facilities
The CDA has set a flat fare of Rs50 per passenger, making the electric bus service an affordable transport option for residents. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.
