The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all its offices will remain closed tomorrow, Wednesday, February 5, in observance of Kashmir Day. This closure comes in line with the government of Pakistan’s declaration of February 5 as a national holiday to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Kashmir Day is observed annually on February 5 to highlight the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people and to show unwavering support for their right to self-determination. This day serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmir cause, especially in the face of India’s illegal occupation of the region.
As per the government’s announcement, all government and semi-government institutions, including educational establishments and markets, will remain closed across the country. The day is marked with public rallies, seminars, and human chains in major cities such as Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, where people come together to voice their support for Kashmir.
In light of this holiday, all banking services provided by the State Bank of Pakistan, including government transactions and operations, will be suspended. Customers are advised to plan ahead and complete any banking tasks prior to the holiday to avoid any inconvenience.
The Kashmir Day holiday provides an important opportunity for Pakistanis to reflect on the situation in Kashmir and show solidarity with the Kashmiri people. With the closure of government institutions and businesses, citizens will engage in various activities to raise awareness about the Kashmir issue, reinforcing Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri struggle for justice.
