Khanpur Dam Maintenance: Water Supply to Islamabad, Rawalpindi Affected for 10 Days

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced that water supply from Khanpur Dam to Islamabad and Rawalpindi will remain suspended for 10 days, from February 10 to 19, 2025, due to desilting work at the dam. A formal notification has been issued, urging residents to store water in advance.

Affected Areas

The water supply suspension will impact several sectors in Islamabad and neighborhoods in Rawalpindi.

Islamabad: D-12, G-10, G-11, F-10, F-11, and G-9
Rawalpindi: Dhoke Hassu, Ratta Amral, Pirwadhai, and Fauji Colony

Reduction in Water Supply

Due to the maintenance work, Islamabad will receive 5.5 million gallons less water per day, while Rawalpindi will face a reduction of 13 million gallons per day.

CDA Issues Advisory

The CDA has advised residents to take precautionary measures by storing water and using it efficiently to avoid inconvenience. The authority has assured that efforts will be made to restore the water supply as soon as the maintenance work is completed.
