Sindh Schools to Remain Closed on February 14
According to an official notification issued by the Sindh Education Department, schools and colleges across the province will remain closed on Friday, February 14, 2025. The decision was made by Sindh’s sub-committee of the steering committee on education.
Shab-e-Barat 2025: A Sacred Night of Forgiveness
Shab-e-Barat, observed on the 15th night of Shaban (Islamic calendar), holds significant religious importance in Islam. It is a night of prayer, forgiveness, and mercy, during which Muslims seek Allah’s blessings and forgiveness for past sins. This year, Shab-e-Barat falls on the night between March 6 and March 7, 2025.
Religious Observances on Shab-e-Barat
Muslims across Pakistan and other Islamic countries observe this holy night by:
- Offering special prayers (Nawafil) in mosques and homes.
- Reciting Quranic verses and seeking forgiveness from Allah.
- Visiting graveyards to offer Fateha for deceased loved ones.
- Engaging in charitable acts such as distributing food to the needy.
Public Holiday Notification in Sindh
The announcement of the Shab-e-Barat holiday in Sindh ensures that students and staff of educational institutions have the opportunity to participate in religious observances without academic disruptions. The notification applies to all schools and colleges under the Sindh Education Department.
