The lawyers’ protest in Hyderabad has entered another day, causing major disruptions on the Hyderabad National Highway. Since Thursday at 2 PM, both tracks of the highway between Karachi and Hyderabad have remained blocked, leaving travelers and transporters stranded.
Why Are Lawyers Protesting?
The lawyers’ protest began as a response to certain grievances against the local police. While the Sindh Police has offered to form a judicial commission to address their concerns, the protesting lawyers have made it clear that they will not end their sit-in unless SSP Farukh Lanjar is transferred. They have also accused Hyderabad DIG of breaking his earlier promise regarding the SSP’s removal.

With the lawyers’ protest in Hyderabad continuing, truck drivers and daily commuters are bearing the brunt of the situation. Many truck drivers have voiced their frustration, stating that they are stuck for hours despite having no involvement in the dispute.
The Sindh Home Minister is reportedly considering different options to resolve the crisis. One possible solution under discussion is to send SSP Farukh Lanjar on leave, which might help ease tensions and end the highway blockade.
