Eligibility and Distribution Process
Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon announced that women holding a two-wheeler driving license will qualify for the scheme. To ensure fair distribution, the scooters will be allocated through a monthly lottery system. The government has also taken measures to prevent resale, restricting recipients from selling their scooters for seven years.
Training for New Riders
For women who do not know how to ride motorcycles, training sessions with female instructors will be arranged. This initiative ensures that every eligible woman has the necessary skills to ride the electric scooters safely and confidently.
Expansion of Public Transport in Karachi
Alongside the Pink Scooter Scheme, the Sindh government has approved the purchase of double-decker buses and additional electric buses to enhance public transport in Karachi. This initiative is part of the broader efforts to modernize the city’s transport system and provide affordable mobility solutions.
Criticism of Federal Government’s Unfulfilled Promise
During the announcement, Sharjeel Memon criticized the federal government for not delivering on its promise to provide 180 electric buses for Karachi. He stated that despite Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s assurances, no funds have been allocated for the project.

Responding to MQM leader Farooq Sattar’s criticism of the PPP-led Sindh government, Memon dismissed his remarks, claiming that Sattar and his party are no longer politically relevant.
