Pak Suzuki Motor Company has officially announced the permanent suspension of Wagon R bookings for all variants, effective March 11, 2025. The decision comes after months of speculation and follows the earlier discontinuation of the model’s top variant.
Wagon R Bookings Permanently Halted
In a notification to dealerships, Pak Suzuki confirmed that no new bookings will be accepted for any Wagon R variant. Sales teams have been directed to inform potential buyers about the decision.
The Wagon R was introduced in 2014 with three variants:
- VX – Priced at Rs 899,000
- VXR – Priced at Rs 1,049,000
- VXL – Priced at Rs 1,089,000
The base VX variant was discontinued, and in 2020, the AGS variant was launched with an automated gear shift transmission and an airbag, priced at Rs 1,890,000. Over time, prices increased significantly:
- VXR – Rs 3,214,000
- VXL – Rs 3,412,000
- AGS – Rs 3,741,000
Declining Sales Led to Wagon R’s Suspension?
The Wagon R’s sales have dropped in recent years. Between July 2024 and February 2025, Pak Suzuki sold only 1,608 units, compared to 2,285 units during the same period last year.
In contrast, other Suzuki models saw higher sales:
- Suzuki Swift – 5,295 units
- Suzuki Cultus – 1,887 units
- Suzuki Alto – 28,194 units
Why Did Pak Suzuki Suspend Wagon R?
While Pak Suzuki has not provided an official reason, industry experts believe that declining sales and changing market demand played a key role in the suspension.
With the permanent halt in bookings, buyers looking for affordable hatchbacks in Pakistan may now consider alternatives like the Suzuki Alto, Suzuki Cultus, or imported Kei cars.
