This major step is part of an education reform to provide students with diverse and career-oriented pathways right from matriculation.

Matric Subject Groups Rawalpindi Curriculum Structure and Subjects
Each subject group comprises 8 subjects, and each subject carries 100 marks. The total marks for matric remain 1,100. The curriculum has already been shared with all public and private schools under BISE Rawalpindi to ensure smooth implementation.
Matric Subject Groups Rawalpindi Textbooks and Implementation
The Punjab Textbook Board has already printed and distributed the new books for each subject group. In addition, teacher training sessions are being scheduled across Rawalpindi and other cities in Punjab to help educators deliver these new subjects efficiently.
Meanwhile, BISE Rawalpindi and other Punjab boards have been instructed to start preparing the exam papers for these new subjects, which will be a part of the March 2026 matric examination.
Changes in Compulsory Subjects
There’s also a slight reshuffling in how some compulsory subjects are taught:
- Islamic Studies (Islamiat) will now only be taught in 9th grade, with 100 marks.
- Pakistan Studies will now be exclusively taught in 10th grade, also carrying 100 marks.
This change is part of the same reform under the matric subject groups Rawalpindi 2025 initiative to streamline the curriculum better.
This update marks a major shift in how matric education is being structured in Rawalpindi. By offering streams like IT, Health Sciences, Agriculture, Fashion Designing, and Entrepreneurship, the board is encouraging students to think ahead and prepare for real-world skills.
So whether you’re a student choosing your subjects or a parent guiding your child, these new matric subject groups Rawalpindi 2025 are something to get familiar with — because the future of education is here, and it’s more flexible than ever.
