The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatwave advisory for the upcoming days, warning of rising temperatures across the country. The advisory indicates that heatwave-like conditions are expected to hit the southern half of Pakistan, with temperatures in several regions forecasted to rise by 4 to 7 degrees Celsius above the usual levels.
Areas Affected by the Heatwave
The southern and central regions of Punjab, along with Sindh and parts of Balochistan, are likely to experience the highest temperature fluctuations. The PMD has urged residents in these areas to remain cautious and take necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke and dehydration.
Temperature Records Across Pakistan
Over the past 24 hours, the highest temperature recorded in the country reached a scorching 47°C in Dadu, Mohenjo Daro, Nawabshah, and Padidan. Meanwhile, Khairpur, Sibi, and Larkana recorded temperatures of 46°C, while Rahim Yar Khan, Sukrand, Jacobabad, Mithi, and Sukkur experienced temperatures of 45°C.

Dusty Winds and Rainfall Expected
Despite the scorching temperatures, the PMD has forecast intermittent dusty winds and rainfall in several areas, including Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Galiyat, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. The rains are expected to start tonight and continue until April 11, 2025, providing some relief from the heatwave.
Precautions and Safety Tips
As temperatures soar, the public is advised to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day, stay hydrated, and wear light clothing. Avoid strenuous outdoor activities and ensure children and elderly individuals are well-protected from the heat. The heatwave advisory highlights the importance of being prepared for the extreme heat and urges citizens to monitor weather updates from the PMD.
With heatwave conditions predicted to persist in the coming days, it is essential for people to stay informed and take safety measures to protect themselves from the severe weather.
