The new net metering policy, combined with the unbearable heat due to climate change, is pushing residents to consider solar systems. “If a poor man just wants to run a fan and a couple of lights, he comes in with Rs20,000 to Rs22,000 and leaves with a complete setup,” shared a local shopkeeper. This affordability is particularly important as frequent and unannounced load shedding by HESCO (Hyderabad Electric Supply Company) continues to disrupt daily life.
Residents are increasingly turning to solar power as a reliable source to combat the harsh summer heat and power cuts. “Climate change has made summers harsher than ever, and HESCO’s load shedding is making life unbearable,” said one resident. “Solar power gives us a way to stay cool and keep our homes running.”
