Nomi Ansari FBR Tax Fraud Exposed: Rs1.25 Billion Case Filed, Arrest Expected Soon

Nomi Ansari, one of Pakistan’s most well-known fashion designers, is now at the center of a massive FBR fraud investigation, according to a report. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially registered a sales tax fraud case against him, alleging tax evasion amounting to Rs1.25 billion.

According to official sources, the Corporate Tax Office (CTO) Karachi initiated the investigation and later lodged an FIR after discovering strong evidence of Nomi Ansari tax violations. This action comes as part of a countrywide campaign against high-profile tax defaulters.

Following legal procedures, the FBR obtained search warrants from a magistrate and launched a raid at Nomi Ansari’s factory and outlets located in Mehran Town, Korangi, and DHA Karachi. During the raid, financial records and documents were confiscated, further strengthening the Nomi Ansari FBR fraud case.

The FBR has also issued a tax demand notice against Nomi Ansari after examining his financial records. Authorities emphasized that this is not an isolated case but a part of intensified enforcement actions across the country. “A case involving Rs1.25 billion in sales tax fraud has been registered against Nomi Ansari. We are actively following up with all tax defaulters as per new directives,” an FBR official stated.

This isn’t the first time Nomi Ansari has come under the radar. Earlier in February, the CTO Karachi sealed multiple outlets belonging to him for violating sales tax regulations and non-compliance with Point-of-Sale (POS) integration laws. These earlier infractions are now contributing to the seriousness of the Nomi Ansari tax case.

Arrest Warrant Likely as Nomi Ansari Remains Abroad

As per FBR sources, Nomi Ansari is currently abroad, but a possible arrest upon his return to Pakistan is likely. Once apprehended, he will be presented before the Customs and Taxation Court for trial.

The FBR has reiterated its commitment to cracking down on large-scale tax frauds, especially involving public figures. With regional offices boosting their investigations, the Nomi Ansari FBR fraud case is expected to set an example for future enforcement operations.
