The Pakistan Airport Authority has temporarily suspended all flight operations at Islamabad International Airport, following similar shutdowns at Karachi, Lahore, and Sialkot airports due to operational reasons.
According to the official spokesperson of the Airport Authority, Islamabad airspace has been closed temporarily, mirroring the airspace closures already in effect at Lahore, Karachi, and Sialkot airports. The suspension has been implemented as a precautionary measure, and a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued to inform airlines and passengers.
Earlier today, flights destined for Lahore were diverted to Islamabad due to the closure of Lahore’s airspace. Notably, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-230 from Muscat to Lahore was rerouted and landed safely at Islamabad Airport.
Passengers are strongly advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules and potential delays. The temporary suspension of flight operations is expected to impact both domestic and international flights.
This marks the fourth major airport in Pakistan facing an operational halt in a short span, raising concerns over widespread air travel disruptions across the country.
Key Airports Affected by Flight Operation Suspensions:
- Islamabad International Airport
- Lahore Allama Iqbal International Airport
- Karachi Jinnah International Airport
- Sialkot International Airport
Authorities have not yet confirmed when normal operations will resume. Travelers are encouraged to check flight status regularly and make necessary adjustments to their travel plans.
