Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a comprehensive Shuhada Package to honor the martyrs of Marka-e-Haq (Operation Bunyanum Marsoos), providing financial compensation, housing facilities, and long-term benefits for the families of the fallen heroes.
The announcement came as part of the government’s decision to observe Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq every year on May 10, to commemorate the historic success of the operation and the unmatched sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and civilians.
Key Highlights of the Shuhada Package:
- Rs 10 Million Compensation for each civilian martyr’s family.
- Injured civilians will receive compensation between Rs 1 million to Rs 2 million.
- Armed forces martyrs’ families to receive compensation ranging from Rs 10 million to Rs 18 million, based on ranks.
- Additional compensation of Rs 19 million to Rs 42 million for housing facilities for the families of armed forces martyrs.
- Full salary including allowances will continue to paid to the martyrs’ families until the date of their retirement.
- Free education till graduation for the children of armed forces martyrs.
- Marriage grant of Rs 1 million for one daughter of every armed forces martyr.
- Injured personnel of the armed forces to receive between Rs 2 million and Rs 5 million in financial support.
Government Support and Rehabilitation
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the federal government will rebuild houses and mosques damaged during the Indian attacks. He reassured the nation that the entire cost of medical treatment for the injured will be borne by the federal government.
He stated, “It is the government’s solemn duty to support the families of our martyrs and we will ensure every possible measure for their welfare.”
National Recognition and Annual Observances
In addition to the Shuhada Package, May 16 will now observed as Youm-e-Tashakur — a day to offer prayers in gratitude and honor the services of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Special prayers will also held on the following Friday for national unity and prosperity.
The prime minister concluded, “Those who rendered invaluable services for the defense of Pakistan will honored at the national level and awarded for their bravery.
