The Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has issued a stern warning to India, vowing a “brutal” and “swift response” in case of any ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).
In an interview with Sky News, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Armed Forces said, “Anyone who tries to violate our territory, integrity, or sovereignty—our response will be brutal.” His remarks come just four days after a truce was reached between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
DG ISPR: “A Recipe for Mutual Destruction”
General Chaudhry cautioned India against attempting to find a “space for war,” describing it as a “recipe for mutual destruction.” He stressed that any escalation would not only destabilize the region but could have catastrophic consequences globally due to the nuclear threat.
“Any sane player like the USA understands this absurdity and what the Indians are trying to do here,” Chaudhry added, referencing global awareness around the potential risks of conflict between India and Pakistan.
Modi Rejects “Nuclear Blackmail”
Earlier this week, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that India would not succumb to what he called “nuclear blackmail” by Pakistan. Modi declared that India’s recent military actions had set a “new normal” and that his country would not differentiate between terrorists and the governments that support them.
Kashmir Conflict: A Persistent Flashpoint
Despite the temporary calm following the truce, DG ISPR Chaudhry criticized India’s military presence in Indian-administered Kashmir, accusing it of harassing the local population and attempting to “internalize” the long-standing dispute.
“It is a problem that has to be resolved by the people of Kashmir as per the United Nations Security Council resolutions,” he asserted.
Trump’s Offer and India’s Rejection of Mediation
Following the ceasefire agreement, US President Donald Trump expressed interest in mediating the Kashmir issue. However, India has rejected third-party involvement, maintaining that the conflict is a bilateral matter and has not agreed to formal talks as part of the truce.
Pakistan Claims Strategic Edge
Sources close to the military establishment in Pakistan suggest a renewed sense of confidence, with claims of having outmaneuvered India diplomatically and strategically. Despite India’s superior military strength, Pakistan believes it has delivered a significant psychological and diplomatic victory.
Conclusion: Fragile Peace Amid Deep Divides
While tensions have momentarily de-escalated, the situation remains precarious. The Kashmir dispute, differing narratives on terrorism, and nuclear posturing continue to create a vast gulf between the two countries. The world watches closely, hoping both sides will avoid another deadly confrontation.
