Renowned Pakistani mountaineer Sirbaz Khan has made history by becoming the first Pakistani to climb all 14 eight-thousanders without using supplemental oxygen, marking a monumental achievement in the world of high-altitude mountaineering.

Sirbaz Khan completed this incredible milestone by summiting Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest peak at 8,586 meters, without oxygen. He had previously climbed all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters, but two of them—Annapurna and Kanchenjunga—were initially summited with oxygen. To officially complete the challenge without supplemental oxygen, he reattempted both mountains.

Last month, Sirbaz successfully summited Annapurna without oxygen. Today, by conquering Kanchenjunga without oxygen, he has etched his name in mountaineering history as one of the few climbers globally to achieve this rare feat.

Who Is Sirbaz Khan?

Hailing from Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan, Sirbaz Khan is Pakistan’s most accomplished high-altitude climber. Over the years, he has become a national icon for his dedication, discipline, and passion for mountaineering.

What Are the 14 Eight-Thousanders?

The 14 eight-thousanders refer to the world’s 14 mountain peaks that rise above 8,000 meters. These include Mount Everest, K2, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Annapurna, among others. Climbing all of them without supplemental oxygen is considered one of the greatest challenges in mountaineering.

A Historic Moment for Pakistan

Sirbaz Khan’s achievement not only places him in an elite group of international climbers but also brings immense pride to Pakistan. His success serves as an inspiration for the next generation of Pakistani mountaineers.
