Petrol Price in Pakistan Today: Rs 4.80 Hike Announced | June 16, 2025

The government has increased the petrol price in Pakistan by Rs 4.80 per litre, raising it from Rs 253.63 to Rs 258.43 per litre. The new rates came into effect on June 16, 2025, and will remain valid for the next 15 days.

Along with petrol, the price of high-speed diesel has also been revised upward by Rs 7.95, now standing at Rs 262.59 per litre, up from Rs 254.64.

This increase in petrol price is primarily due to a combination of rising international crude oil prices, exchange rate fluctuations, and geopolitical developments. A key factor is the Israel-Iran conflict, which has contributed to global oil market instability, leading to higher import costs for Pakistan.

According to the government’s fortnightly pricing review mechanism, adjustments are made based on international oil trends and currency exchange impacts. These updates are also aligned with commitments under IMF agreements, including new tax applications.

Here’s a quick recap of recent petrol price changes:

  • June 16, 2025: Rs 258.43/litre (+Rs 4.80)
  • June 1, 2025: Rs 253.63/litre (+Rs 1.00)
  • May 16, 2025: Rs 252.63/litre (no change)
  • May 1, 2025: Rs 252.63/litre (–Rs 2.00)

The next petrol price update expected to issue around July 1, 2025. Consumers are advised to plan their budgets accordingly.
