Iran-Israel Ceasefire Announced by Trump: Rejected by Iran, Strikes Continue

The Iran-Israel ceasefire remains unconfirmed as hostilities between the two nations continue. On June 23, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on his social media that a “complete and total” ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, claiming it was brokered through calls with Israeli PM Netanyahu and indirect talks with Iranian officials.

According to Trump, the ceasefire was to begin in phases, with Iran halting attacks first, followed by Israel. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied the existence of any such agreement. He stated that Iran would only stop military operations if Israel ended its airstrikes first. Israel has not publicly confirmed any ceasefire and its officials remain under a gag order.

Despite the announcement, Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles toward Israeli cities on June 24, which reportedly killed three people in Be’er Sheva. Various reports claimed that Israeli forces responded with strikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites, including Tehran and Karaj. U.S.-backed airstrikes also targeted Iran’s nuclear infrastructure as part of Operation Midnight Hammer.

On June 23, Iran also fired missiles at the U.S. Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, all of which were intercepted.

The conflict, which began on June 13 with Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, has so far resulted in over 400 Iranian and 24 Israeli deaths. Iran claims 13 children are among the casualties.

Qatar played a mediating role, and regional airspace closures affected flights from airlines including IndiGo, Air India, and Qatar Airways. The Iran Israel ceasefire situation remains fluid, with both sides continuing missile exchanges amid international calls for de-escalation.
