Donald Trump’s latest tweet on Truth Social has labeled CNN and The New York Times as “fake news” over their coverage of recent U.S. airstrikes in Iran.
On June 24, 2025, Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, rejecting claims by CNN and The New York Times about the effectiveness of U.S. airstrikes under “Operation Midnight Hammer.” The operation, carried out on June 22, targeted three Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

In further remarks to the media, Trump reiterated that U.S. bombers “perfectly” struck and “wiped out” the nuclear sites. He criticized CNN’s coverage as “disrespectful” to the military and called MSNBC a “disgrace.”
According to reports by CNN and The New York Times, a leaked U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) assessment suggested the strikes did not fully destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities. The assessment, based on U.S. Central Command’s damage analysis, concluded the program was only delayed by a few months.
White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt rejected the DIA findings, supporting Trump’s version of events.
The airstrikes followed Israeli military action and were part of broader regional tensions. On June 23, Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. However, neither side officially confirmed the agreement.
