Power Outages, Flooded Streets, and Casualties Reported After Heavy Monsoon Rains
Light rain and drizzle continue across Karachi since early morning, while other parts of Pakistan face disruption due to heavy monsoon rains. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, drizzle is expected to continue in Karachi until July 15, with maximum temperature ranging between 33°C to 35°C. High humidity is making weather conditions feel hotter.
In cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, D.G. Khan, Gujrat, Larkana, and Barkhan, monsoon rain caused urban flooding and power breakdowns. Multiple low-lying areas submerged, and several regions reported blocked roads and damaged infrastructure.
In Khuzdar, three people died and one was injured in rain-related incidents. The injured was shifted to a local hospital. Naseerabad and surrounding areas also experienced heavy rain with thunder, leading to waterlogging and power suspension.
D.G. Khan and nearby areas saw stormy weather and strong winds. Authorities issued flash flood warnings in Koh-e-Suleiman’s streams after continuous rainfall.
Gujrat reported water entering homes and commercial shops. Dozens of GEPCO feeders tripped. In Zinda Peer, a boy died after being struck by lightning.
Larkana and nearby areas in Sindh experienced thunderstorm rains. Power supply was cut off citywide as soon as the rain began. Low-lying areas in Larkana flooded due to the heavy downpour.
