British Open Champion: Scottie Scheffler Secures Fourth Major in Style, Becomes Golf’s Hottest Star

Scottie Scheffler took the 2025 British Open at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland to capture his fourth career major and the first Claret Jug. The 17-under-par finish saw Scheffler complete the tournament four strokes in front of enemy Harris English. After his win in the PGA Championship in May, this Open is the second major he has won in 2025.

Scheffler is now one title away from completing the career Grand Slam, with the U.S. Open remaining. Only six golfers in history have achieved this milestone, which Scheffler will attempt in 2026 at Shinnecock Hills.

With this Open Championship win, Scheffler extended his record to 11 consecutive wins when holding the solo 54-hole lead. He has now held the World No. 1 position for 149 weeks, the longest streak since Tiger Woods. Scheffler is also the only modern-era golfer to win his first four majors by three or more strokes.

Scheffler already has a career total of more than $91 million in prize money, including $12.3 million since May 2025. After the Open, he partied with his wife Meredith and son Bennett, whose celebration was popular on social sites.

Assuming that he becomes a U.S. Open winner in 2026, Scheffler will be only the third person in history to achieve the Grand Slam, along with Nicklaus and Woods, as well as Player.
