The Utility Stores Corporation has shut down all its operations in the country under order by the federal government. Products, such as food resources and other necessities, are transported into warehouses around the country. There has been total abandonment of buying and selling in utility stores.
According to official instructions issued by the Utility Stores Corporation, the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system has also been permanently deactivated from today. Any transactions conducted through this system after July 31 will be treated as violations.
This move is confirmed by the sources to be in line with the new policy in the federal government and a review of the performance of the Utility Stores Corporation. Whether the stores will reopen in the future, as well as whether there will be replacement program, has not been announced yet.
The shutdown of the Utility Stores, initially established to provide affordable essential items to low-income and middle-class households, has triggered concerns among the public. Many rely on these outlets for access to subsidized goods.
