PTI Protest Today: Red Zone Sealed, Section 144 Imposed, and Major Roads Closed

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is protesting across the country today, August 5, 2025, to mark the second anniversary of the arrest of the founder of the party Imran Khan. PTI will hold the demonstration under the umbrella of Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan.

According to official statements, PTI leaders say this is the start of a long-term campaign demanding judicial rights, constitutional protection, and the release of Imran Khan.

Section 144 Enforced in Islamabad and Rawalpindi

The governments of Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi imposed Section 144 to stop congregation, protests, and rallies between August 4 and 10. Police also warned to detain anyone making violations.

Authorities have sealed multiple roads and areas in preparation for the protest.

  • Red Zone, Islamabad – Completely sealed
  • Murree Road, Rawalpindi – Blockades at Committee Chowk, Chandni Chowk, and Sixth Road
  • Islamabad Expressway – Disruptions near Khanna Bridge
  • Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi – Heavy security presence

More than 2,500 police personnel deployed in Islamabad for security and crowd control.

PTI claims that over 200 workers have been detained in Punjab and Azad Kashmir following early morning raids.

PTI MNAs and Senators have been directed to gather in Islamabad. Provincial assembly members are leading protest demonstrations in their respective regions. Reports suggest Imran Khan’s sons may arrive in Pakistan to participate in the movement.
