The Sindh government Azadi Train will depart from Karachi Cantt Station on August 13, traveling to Zero Point, Tharparkar, as part of the Pakistan Independence Day Train celebrations under the theme Jashn-e-Azadi – Ma’raka-e-Haq.
The special Azadi Train Karachi initiative will cover a two-day symbolic journey through Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, and Umerkot, culminating at Marvi Station, Khokhrapar, on August 14.
This Independence Day Train Pakistan project came out in a meeting presided by the Sindh Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, minister of Culture and Tourism. The project is directed towards celebrating the Independence Day 2025 in the form of cultural and patriotic program across the whole province.
Azadi Train Karachi Routes and Activities
- Departure: August 13, Karachi Cantt Station
- Route: Karachi → Hyderabad → Mirpurkhas → Chhor Cantt (Umerkot)
- Day 1 Activities: Musical performance at Parchi Ji Veri, Umerkot
- Day 2 Events:
- Arrival at Marvi Station (Khokhrapar)
- Flag-hoisting and cake-cutting ceremony
- Return to Karachi on the evening of August 14
Passengers of the Azadi Train Karachi will distribute national flags at each station to promote unity. The journey will also include participation from civil society members, showbiz personalities, and political figures.
According to Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah, the Sindh government Azadi Train is part of a broader plan to observe Independence Day with public participation and patriotic spirit across the province. He added that the journey symbolizes peace, unity, and a tribute to the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s freedom.
The campaign titled Ma’raka-e-Haq runs from August 1 to 14, celebrating the country’s independence with national engagement.
The route is based on the Thar Desert Train Safari, previously launched as a tourism project between Karachi and Khokhrapar via Umerkot. The Pakistan Independence Day Train repurposes this journey to connect cultural heritage with national celebration.
