Karachi heavy rain continues to impact daily life as thunderstorms and showers were recorded in different parts of the city on Thursday, August 21, 2025. According to AccuWeather, today rain in Karachi began in the morning hours with thunderstorm activity near the Karachi airport and adjoining areas. Temperatures during the rainfall period stayed close to 30 to 31°C before turning mostly cloudy by afternoon.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread Karachi rainfall with scattered heavy to very heavy showers across Sindh, including the port city. Officials warned that the ongoing monsoon system may trigger waterlogging and urban flooding in low-lying localities. PMD further confirmed that Karachi weather rain conditions are likely to continue till Friday, August 22, with intermittent spells expected in multiple areas of the city.
AccuWeather Karachi updates also highlighted that after the morning thunderstorms, the weather would shift towards cloudy skies in the evening. Westerly winds of 12 to 25 mph are forecast, along with high humidity and haze, which may reduce visibility in several districts. The maximum temperature in Karachi could rise to 33°C, while the minimum may stay around 27°C.
The rainfall in Karachi has already caused traffic jams in major roads especially the Shahrah-e-Faisal and the neighboring roadways at Karachi airport where water stagnated and provoked delays. Power outage in Karachi also experienced in various regions after the downpours. City officials and rescue teams worked with de-watering pumps to empty the affected societies.
The schools in Karachi will also remain closed under the prevailing weather conditions since offices and business establishments are working partly, as per authorities confirming. AccuWeather and PMD warned the residents to be alert and more precaution measures need to be taken in the next 24 hours because more Karachi heavy downpour is imminent.
