Karachi is still facing disruptions as life has not returned to normal after heavy rain in Karachi earlier this week. Despite two days passing since the downpour on Tuesday, several areas of the city remain without electricity, highlighting the ongoing Karachi power outage issue that residents continue to face.
Areas including Ratan Talao, Urdu Bazaar, Alamgir Society in Malir, Kashmir Colony Sector B, Jail Road, Jamshed Road, and various blocks of Gulistan-e-Jauhar are still affected. Other localities such as PECHS Block 7, North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad C-1 Area, and Merchant Navy Society Scheme 33 also continue to experience no electricity in Karachi. Residents say they have registered repeated complaints to K.E, but no practical solution has been provided to resolve the Karachi power outage.
On the second day of Karachi heavy rain, eleven more people died in the city. Water accumulation on main roads disrupted traffic movement, while piles of garbage and mud further increased the difficulties of citizens. Locals said there is a visible gap between official claims and the ground situation after the heavy rain in Karachi.
Meanwhile, K-Electric updates confirmed by CEO Moonis Alvi stated that electricity had been restored to more than 94 percent of the city by Wednesday evening. He said repair work on nearly 150 feeders is still in progress. However, due to ongoing Karachi heavy rain and waterlogged streets, teams continue to face obstacles in restoring electricity in Karachi.
