In a letter to the National Cybercrime Agency, the ministry requested strict action against those spreading misinformation about the vaccination drive.
Authorities say that the Health Ministry officially requested the Cyber Crime Wing to censor social media profiles that used to disseminate fake information on the HPV vaccine in Pakistan. The ministry also advised that FIRs should be registered on people who conduct campaigns that misguide the population and confuse them on the vaccination program.
Propaganda Creates Fear About HPV Vaccine Side Effects
Authorities warned that false information related to HPV vaccine side effects is directly endangering the health of young girls. The cervical cancer prevention campaign, which includes the HPV vaccination and awareness drives aimed at protecting women’s health. Health officials advised citizens to rely on verified information and official health department updates about the HPV vaccine side effects and benefits. The ministry reiterated that the cervical cancer vaccination drive is safe, approved by global health bodies, and critical for preventing future cases of cervical cancer in Pakistan.
