Natha Khan Bridge Update: KMC Declares Bridge Unsafe

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has declared the Natha Khan Bridge unsafe due to severe structural damage. The theft of steel from 19 beams has caused major cracks and a large pothole in the middle lane. While a repair for the pothole is planned within 25 days, officials warn new cracks could appear at any time.

The Natha Khan Bridge is in an unsafe state and it is causing a massive inconvenience on the Sharae Faisal. Peak hours are also expected to have long delays to commuters. The other recommended routes are the Malir Expressway, Karsaz Road, Drigh Road, and Rashid Minhas Road. The government recommends that Natha Khan Bridge must be checked on a regular basis.

The KMC plans to construct a temporary road next to the bridge on land owned by the City District Officer (CDO) and Airport Authority. This alternative route is expected to be completed within six months. After that, the Natha Khan Bridge will be demolished and fully rebuilt. This plan is part of the ongoing Natha Khan Bridge update for long-term safety and traffic flow.

The residents and commuters should:

  • Do not use Shahrah e Faisal at peak times.
  • Take other routes such as Malir Expressway, Karsaz Road, Drigh Road and Rashid Minhas Road.
  • Keep in touch with the Natha Khan Bridge update via official KMC announcements.

To ensure safety to people and traffic control in the area, the KMC keeps observing and fixing the structural deficiencies of the Natha Khan Bridge.
