Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) stated that a second route of the Natha Khan Bridge to built to cope with the growing traffic strain and to decrease the amount of repairs. This Natha Khan bridge update follows numerous cases of iron theft, which have repeatedly caused maintenance problems for the bridge.
Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab chaired a meeting with municipal and engineering officials, directing them to complete a detailed survey within one week. He instructed that construction of the alternate route for Natha Khan bridge should begin immediately after the report submission.
Officials say frequent theft and continuous repair have stressed the current bridge structure. The new Natha Khan bridge project offers a long-term solution by diverting some of the traffic congestion to another road. This action aims to improve road traffic around the airport.
As per KMC’s statement, the Engineering Department will finalize the survey and submit the findings for immediate action. The project is on priority under the city’s infrastructure improvement plan. The alternate route for Natha Khan bridge, built to ensure uninterrupted connectivity between the airport corridor and main city routes.
Mayor Wahab emphasized that addressing public issues and improving civic facilities remain the top responsibility of the administration. He added that the Natha Khan bridge construction is an urgent and priority basis, with regular progress reviews expected from the engineering department.
The KMC expected to release more details regarding the route alignment, construction stages, and completion timeline after the survey.
