Pakistan Airspace Closure Announced for 2 Days

Pakistan has announced that its airspace is temporarily shut down for two days, where flight operations on the 28th of October and 29th of October, 2025, are affected. The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) sent out a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) to all airlines and aviation companies about the restrictions.

As per the notification the Pakistan airspace will be closed between 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM on both days. All commercial flights have been advised to take precautionary measures during these hours and change their routes.

Limited Airspace Access in Karachi and Lahore Regions

Airspace closure in Pakistan is only specific to selected routes in the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions (FIRs). These are the key zones of both local and international air traffic of Pakistan. Airlines that have been flying into and out of the areas have been advised to check their flight plans and liaise with the air traffic control on other routes to take during the times of closure.

Reason Behind the Pakistan Airspace Closed Decision

The temporary decision comes amid reports of military activities near Pakistan’s eastern border, where India is scheduled to conduct its tri-services military exercise, “Trishul,” close to the Sir Creek area. Although the CAA cited “operational and safety reasons,” aviation experts link the timing of the Pakistan airspace closed notice with regional defense readiness measures.

The implementation of the Pakistan airspace shutdown might impact the early morning flight operations and transit flights through the central and southern routes. Customers who book flight on October 28-29 are encouraged to receive airline communication on potential delays or rerouting.

The Pakistan airspace closed NOTAM is still on three hours daily, which is a safe and operational coordination in the concerned areas.
