PSL 2026 New Teams: Faisalabad and Gilgit Likely to Join League

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) will expand to eight teams with the 11th edition. The new PSL franchises will have Faisalabad and Gilgit as front-runners. In the meantime, the owner of Multan Sultans expresses his concerns related to franchise renewal, which has become an indication of a potential legal conflict during the expansion of the league.

PSL 2026 Expansion: New PSL Teams to Include Faisalabad and Gilgit

The Pakistan Super League is moving forward with expansion plans for its 11th edition. Sources from the PCB indicate Faisalabad and Gilgit as the most likely bases for the two new PSL franchises. The official PSL 2026 new teams name will be confirmed once franchise sales are completed.

The PCB has opened the tender process for the sale of two new franchises. Prospective owners can choose from a shortlist of six cities: Faisalabad, Gilgit, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Rawalpindi. The final PSL 2026 two new teams name will be announced after the sale process concludes.

Multan Sultans Owner Raises Concerns

The expansion is accompanied by a conflict with the owner of the Multan Sultans Ali Khan Tareen. He asserts that the PSL management has ghosted him in that it has not issued a renewal offer letter which contains updated franchise fees and an independent valuation report of the next 10 years.

Ali Tareen has been reported to send several emails and law notices to PCB and PSL management within the last one month. He was cautiously telling him that the franchise might start a lawsuit but he stressed that a law suit is the last resort.

Other existing franchises—Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators—have already received renewal offers following independent valuations.

Next Steps for New PSL Teams

The PCB expects the tender process for the new PSL teams to begin shortly. Fans and prospective owners are closely watching Faisalabad and Gilgit as likely hosts of the new PSL 2026 franchises.
