Berlin: National Logistics Cell (NLC) has signed a MoU with Daimler AG to develop the manufacturing plant of Mercedes Benz trucks in Pakistan.
NLC elaborated in the statement that Daimler AG will assemble Mercedes Benz trucks in Pakistan. However, the decision is a major news for Pakistan’s automobile and logistics industry. It is also a strong indication of Interest of EU automobile manufacturers in Pakistan’s market.
According to sources, Dr. Ralf Forcher, head of sales, and head of the executive committee, Mercedes Benz Trucks, Klaus Fischinger, were representing Daimler AG. However, Zia Ahmed, CEO NLC Motors, and Major General Mushtaq Faisal, DG, were the representatives of NLC.
Financial Analysts also considering this decision a big opportunity for Pakistan. They believe that fruits of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are beginning to ripe. They are considering Daimler’s move as a great addition to the logistics industry of Pakistan. However, with CPEC, the demand for commercial and transportation vehicles is increasing in Pakistan. Reports suggest that the Gwadar port will soon become a major trade and economic hub of Pakistan. However, it will increase the demand for commercial vehicles in Pakistan.
