Locally assembled Volkswagen and Skoda cars are going to hit the roads of Pakistan in 2023. Premier Motors Limited (PML) is producing the vehicles in the country as its license partner. The news came in as Premier Motors appointed AKD Securities as its financial consultant for reaching financial close on their assembly plant in Karachi. Work on the production plant of Premier motors commenced in July 2021 and is going on in full swing.
The fully integrated cutting-edge production plant is located in HUB. It will produce Volkswagen and Skoda CKD vehicles. The plant has a 30,000-vehicle-per-year capacity. Initially, the company would provide premium Volkswagen and Skoda Crossover SUVs. Pakistan will have cars Volkswagen and Skoda cars on the roads by the middle of 2023. The estimated cost of this World-class plant is $100 million.
Pakistan is already witnessing a massive influx of Chinese cars and a huge demand for crossover SUVs. Now European carmakers are also eyeing the Pakistani market as the Volkswagen group inks an agreement with Premier Motors Limited to assemble cars at their plant. PML?s parent company Premier Systems is the sole importer and official importer of Audi AG in Pakistan since 2006. Moreover, it is also an authorized importer of Audi cars in Srilanka and Bangladesh.
