In a recent move by the Finance Ministry, petrol prices in Pakistan have seen a cut of PKR 4.74 per liter, deviating from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s suggested PKR 15.40 reduction. Diesel also witnesses a decrease by PKR 3.86 per liter, marking a step towards economic relief.
The updated petrol price now stands at PKR 268.36 per liter, while diesel is priced at PKR 270.22 per liter. The prices of kerosene and light diesel oil have also been adjusted to PKR 171.61 and PKR 157.29 per liter respectively, reflecting reductions of PKR 1.87 and PKR 3.88.
This announcement aligns with the government’s commitment to fostering economic stability and reducing inflation, as evidenced by the previous petrol price drop on May 16. The new rates are effective immediately and will remain in place for the forthcoming 15 days.
Prime Minister Sharif’s advocacy for more substantial cuts underscores his dedication to people-friendly policies, aiming to provide financial ease to the citizens amidst the global economic challenges.
