ExxonMobil discussed the LNG requirements and offshore drilling with the Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi.
ExxonMobil team met with Maritime Minister Ali Haider Zaidi at Islamabad. Company’s chairman Alex Volkov, along with his team, held productive discussions with the minister relating to LNG requirements in Pakistan and the offshore drilling project off the coast of Karachi.

In March, PM Imran Khan revealed that gas and oil reserves in Pakistan sea are discovered and they are largest in Asia. In addition, he also urged the nation to pray for the success of the exploration efforts and said the development could bring about a massive change in Pakistan’s fortunes.
Earlier, ExxonMobil temporarily suspended the offshore drilling near the coast of Karachi. Offshore drilling in Pakistan worth $100 million was started as “Mother of All Rigs”, main drilling ship along with 3 supply vessels began the drilling. However, companies were drilling Kekra-1 well in the Indus-G block. Italian firm Eni Pakistan Limited and US firm ExxonMobil were collaboratively drilling in ultra deep waters around 280 km far from the coastline of Karachi.
