Pakistanis just received a New Year’s gift. The federal government slashed fuel rates across the country starting January 1, 2026. If you are heading to the pump, you will notice a big drop in the petrol price. This move brings much-needed relief to commuters and the transport sector as we kick off the year.
Following the advice of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the government has lowered the petrol price in Pakistan today by more than 10 rupees per litre. This update applies to every city, so the petrol price Karachi residents pay is the same as in Lahore or Islamabad.
The new petrol price in Pakistan is now Rs 253.17 per litre. This is a solid drop from the previous rate of Rs 263.45. If you use high-speed diesel, you will also save money. The diesel price in Pakistan fell by Rs 8.57, bringing the new rate to Rs 257.08 per litre.
The government reviews these rates every 15 days. This latest fuel price today reflects a downward trend in global oil markets and a stable rupee. These petrol prices in Pakistan will stay the same until January 15, 2026.
