Islamabad: According to sources, a new investment is expected as Russia is going to invest $14 billion in the energy sector of Pakistan.
The $14 billion investment in Pakistan is expected as Russia shown interest to invest in the energy sector. Recently, the Russian delegation led by Gazprom Management Committee Deputy Chairman Vitaly A Markelov pledged huge investment in underground gas storages, North South Pipeline Project and offshore gas pipeline project.
According to sources, Russia will invest around $10 billion in offshore gas pipeline project, $2.5 billion in the North South Pipeline Project and the remaining on building underground storages in Pakistan. In addition, the Russian companies will build gas pipeline from Karachi to Lahore to transport imported gas for meeting the high gas demand in the region.
Russia holds huge gas deposits in Iran and has offered Pakistan and India gas exports by laying an offshore pipeline that will pass through Gwadar Port.
