Qatar pledges support to help Pakistan overcome economic challenges

Qatar has decided to help Pakistan during the current economic crisis and contribute to the country’s progress and development.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met the sheikh of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the 5th UN LDC Conference. The premier is on a two-day official visit to Qatar to attend a conference. According to a press release by the Prime minister’s office, the sheikh of Qatar will cooperate with and support Pakistan’s development and progress agenda. He welcomed the PM and has shown keen interest in strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation investment, trade, and employment opportunities for skilled manpower.

The two leaders deliberated upon various mutually beneficial issues and exchanged views to diversify cooperation in economic and investment sectors. PM appreciated Qatar’s support for development projects in Pakistan and highlighted vast opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. Sheikh lauded the contribution of the Pakistan diaspora to Qatar’s development and hailed the contribution of Pakistan security authorities during the FIFA football world cup 2022 hosted by Qatar.

The sheikh also accepted the PM’s invitation visit to Pakistan. Earlier on Sunday PM arrived in Doha where he greeted by Qatari officials.

I have just reached Doha on the invitation of brother HH sheik Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the sheikh of Qatar to attend the 5th UN conference on LDC. The conference will held from March 5-9 to consider steps for accelerating sustainable development in LDC and put them on the road to prosperity. “Least Development countries have been badly affected by climate change, post-pandemic, and geo-strategic food and energy supply chain disruptions.

The global events have left them vulnerable. LDC will be better served by putting the welfare of people at the center of public policy”.

PM meets investment chief

After he met with the Qatar sheikh, Mr. Sharif met Qatar investment authority Chief Mansoor Ebrahim Al Mahmoud. They exchange views on progress made on various investment proposals in multiple sectors of Pakistan’s economy.

During the meeting, Mr. Al Mahmoud and PM Sharif highlighted investment opportunities in the energy and infrastructure sectors of Pakistan. The QIA CEO expressed a keen interest in investing in LNG power plants, airports, and solar power parks in Pakistan. The PM thanked the QIA chief for his interest in enhancing economic cooperation and invited Qatari investors to take advantage of the investment-friendly policies of the Pakistan government.
