SBP new currency notes for Eid-ul-Fitr will be available from May 20

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will provide new currency notes from 20 May 2019.

SBP provides new currency notes in exchange with old ones to the general public. The aim is to assist public to easily get new currency notes for Eid ul Fitr. New currency notes will be issued from May 20 to May 31. The SMS Short Code 8877 will be used for that purpose. However, SBP introduced the code in collaboration with PBA or Pakistan Banks Association.

How to Get New Currency Notes from SBP

The procedure is much simple as you just have to send your CNIC No. and desired bank’s branch code to 8877. The messaging charges will Rs. 2 + Tax. When you will send the message, the system will reply you with the branch address and transaction number. However, each cell phone number and CNIC No. can only be used for just one time. In addition, no transaction number will be provided if you send same CNIC No. from the different cell phone number.

You have to show your original CNIC at the time of receiving new currency notes. Each person will receive 3 packets of Rs. 10, and each packet of Rs. 100 and Rs. 50. However, the best part is that you can avail this facility from over 1700 SBP offices and commercial bank branches present in 142 cities.
